Hey everybody! I know this site is long overdue for an update - and I would love to be able to properly update it with announcements of new releases and all - but, unfortunately, the Badwill Ambassadors re-issue and the GG Allin & ANTiSEEN 7" have been and still are being held hostage by a third party and, legally, that's pretty much all I'm allowed to say about it at this point. Sigh.
Anywhoo, we might not have new releases to talk about but we do have bands on tour this month; and you should totally go see them.
The Hookers US tour kicks off tonight at Cahoots in Louisville, Kentucky (technically I suppose the tour starts after they leave their home state but you get the idea) then criss crosses the country in a pentagram-esque formation before winding up in scenic British Columbia the first weekend in June. Meanwhile, ANTiSEEN are currently checking their packing lists twice and carefully bubble wrapping the barbed wire in advance of their upcoming European tour starting May 17th in Berlin, Germany.
Please consult the newly updated shows page for a full list dates; or just stalk the bands via the handy links linked above. I'm sure they update their respective sites more than I update this one. Thanks!

(11.30.11 update)
Hey everybody! And welcome to a completely impromptu last day of November update. I know I tend to only type stuff into this space when we have a new release to announce (because, you know, all of the bands we work with have their own assorted web presence and you can stalk / keep up with what they're up to on a daily basis via facebook, myspace, twitter etc.) but I did make a promise to update this page with newsworthy tidbits whenever they are brought to my attention, and this morning one was, so let's get to it.
You're all familiar with Little Steven's Underground Garage, yes? For the sake of this post I'm going to assume the answer is yes, which means you probably already know once a week the powers that be over there choose one particularly cool song out of all the other cool songs they play and deem it "The Coolest Song In The World This Week". Then, apparently, once a year the powers that be allow their fans / listeners / anyone with internet access to vote on which of these cool songs will have the honor of being named "The Coolest Song In The World 2011."
And, of course, I bring this up here because one cool song from one of the cool records released on our humble yet cool label, namely "14th Street" by The Master Plan - AKA "The Coolest Song In The World This Week circa July 31st 2011" and an equally cool song any other week - from Maximum Respect is among the nominees. Should you care to cast your ballot in their favor - and, on behalf of the label, we certainly would appreciate it if you did - you can vote right here. (Well, you have to go there and then scroll down a bit but if I can find it I'm sure you can.)
Needless to say, I would be totally excited for the band if they won the award; and even more excited for them if there was some sort of actual physical award to be issued, like a golden bandana or something, but I think it's like Iron Chef where you compete for the honor of the title. What I'm not so excited about is how blurry the CD cover looks on the Underground Garage page but I'll get over it.
Anywhoo, in other news, Hookers kick off their final European tour of 2011 this weekend in Italy and next weekend ANTiSEEN will be bringing the Destructo Rock to the Keystone State; more info. on each can be found on the shows page. And now that we all officially have eye strain I will sign off.
'til next time

(11.08.11 update)
Hey everybody! And welcome to yet another of our somewhat infrequent but still fun new release Tuesday updates. I think at this point we all know what is about to happen here. I announce the newest Green Mist release, in this case the newest missive from the recently un-deceased HookersHorror Rises From The Tombs, added to our now significantly more demonic catalog of full contact rock and roll. Then I say yay. Yay!
By the way, did I mention this release is a 12" LP, aka not a CD? Well, now I did. And yes, it comes with one of those digital download card dealies entitling the holder of said card to, obviously, digital downloads of the songs on the record plus three bonus tracks; one each of the live, soundtrack and ultra obscure cover variety. (PS: Yay vinyl! We will continue this trend with the first GMR release of 2012, the LP version of ANTiSEEN's Badwill Ambassadors; which is a subject for a future update.)
Anywhoo, because I like including You Tube videos in these updates and I was / am particularly tickled by this particular You Tube video, here is a clip of the band in all of their evil, long haired, black t-shirted glory performing "The Clock Strikes 12" in the bright cheerful afternoon sunlight at a Varla Magazine pool party in Las Vegas last month.
Classic! I'm not sure if there is a proper record release show in the works but I do know the band will be bringing the doom to numerous and assorted European cities next month. (And I know this because I made a poster to commemorate the occasion / plaster all over said cities in advance of said tour; see...) Please consult the appropriately named shows page for more info. and for more info. on this fine release see here.
'til next time,

(06.28.11 update)
Hey everybody! And welcome to a somewhat unique new release Tuesday. Unique because today marks the first, and may turn out to be the only, time in the history of Green Mist we've released a record a week before it's official release date. (Of course we only started this label last year; but I'm pretty sure it never happened in Steel Cage history either. By the way, there is no particularly interesting story attached to this. I just have other plans next Tuesday and was worried I wouldn't be able to update the site, so I decided I'd rather be early than risk being late.)
Anywhoo, if you've been following along you already know the release in question is ANTiSEEN's WORLD WiDE LiVE ASS KiCKiN' 7" EP - and if you weren't, now you do - so without any further ado, by the power vested in me (essentially by me, although I did run it by Jeff and Larry last week) I now pronounce this record and our humble yet ever growing catalog of full contact rock and roll united. Yay!
Thanks to the wonders of You Tube, and whoever recorded this video, I can also offer to share a little bit of what you can expect to hear on this record...
Well, not literally, these particular songs are not on this particular 7" but the tracks on side two were also recorded during this set at Speedfest.
(FYI: There are a few videos from this show floating around ye olde internet but I went this one because I think it actually contains footage of the photographer taking the shot of Joe that wound on up on the back cover.)
The track listing and other relevant information can be found here, or by following the handy links above / on the sidebar; and to find out when & where you can witness your own live ass kickin' please consult the aptly named shows page.
'til next time,

(06.16.11 update)
Hey everybody! I know in our last update I said our next update would coincide with our next new release Tuesday but, in a previous update, I also said I would try to update whenever I had a little news to share - and I do - so let's get to it.
I also mentioned the unholy reunion of the Hookers in our last update and, in this update, I am here to let you know they are set to embark on a 14 show / 3 week West Coast tour (to which Mrs. Green Mist says: work, honey!) which kicks off tonight, interestingly enough in riot ridden Vancouver BC where the band will employ their special blend of the devil's music to soothe the wounds of disappointed Canucks fans. Or pour salt in them. I suppose it will depend on Adam's mood.
Anywhoo, the full list of dates are available here. (I have no idea who is playing with them on any of these shows, it wasn't listed on the poster he sent me, and Clayton is gonna kill me if I don't get back to working on WORLDWiDE LiVE 7" sleeve so I don't have time to web stalk the band / venues today, but you can do so via the handy link above.)
Speaking of ANTiSEEN, I just learned during their most recent tour the band taped an appearance on Green Mist's favorite Chicago based cable access TV show Chic-A-Go-Go. (Also the only Chicago based cable access TV show we've ever seen but that doesn't make it any less awesome!) Wanna see some Destructo Rock accompanied by some dancing children? Of course you do!! And even if you don't here it is...
'til next time,

(05.17.11 update)
Remember in our last update I mentioned ANTiSEEN was going on tour with Zeke, Joe Buck Yourself & Goddamn Gallows next month? Well, guess what? Now this month is next month - or, uh something like that - and the tour starts this Thursday at The Hi-Tone in Memphis.
Actually, for Zeke, Joe Buck Yourself & Goddamn Gallows the tour starts tomorrow night (aka Wednesday) at Buster's in pastoral Lexington, Kentucky where they will be joined by the recently undeceased the Hookers. (PS: We are putting a Hookers CD in the Fall. Yay! More on that later.)
Anywhoo, this mighty rock and roll roadshow will be careening through New Orleans, Austin, Tulsa, Denver, Kansas City and Chicago before landing in Cleveland at the end of the month. You can find the rest of the tour dates here, or by web stalking the bands via the handy links listed above.
And I will see you in July to tell you about our next release, appropriately an ANTiSEEN live EP.
'til then,
xo

(04.26.11 update)
Hey everybody! I can't believe it's been five months since our last update!! But, um, it has. And that's pretty much all I have to say on that topic. (In retrospect I'm not sure why I brought it up in the first place.)
Anywhoo, while I may have somewhat lost my enthusiasm for keeping this page updated regularly I certainly have not lost my enthusiasm for a new release Tuesday, nor adding a euphemistic notch to our label's bedpost, so let's get right to it and officially welcome JJ Rassler & Thee Cuban Heels' debut CD Behold! to our humble but hearty catalog of full contact rock and roll. Yay!
In case you're wondering how Thee Cuban Heels may differ from some of Rassler's previous projects, I found some "vintage" footage of the band charming the hometown crowd - and anyone from out of town who happened to be in the room at the time - at Johnny D's, accompanied by some footage of JJ explaining the band's oeuvre, for our collective viewing pleasure.
(PS: If you can't name at least one of JJ's previous projects you may want to do a little google searching and get back to me.)
More info. on this fine release can be found here. I'm not sure if there's an official record release party planned but there are a few shows in various cities currently in various stages of booking; I will add them to this page when somebody passes the particulars along to me.
On a somewhat related while completely unrelated topic, did you know ANTiSEEN is going on tour with Zeke next month? It's true. But that is a subject for our next update so....
'til then,

(11.26.10 update)
Hey everybody! Welcome to our first, and possibly only, new release Black Friday!
(Lest anyone misunderstand that statement, it will be our only new release Black Friday only if our distributor decides not to have a special post Turkey Day promotion again next year.)
As you may have gathered from our homepage or the sidebar at the left, the release in question is ANTiSEEN's Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match EP and, needless to say, I am very excited to be able to add this sizzling slab o' green vinyl to our small but satisfying catalog of full contact rock and roll. (Did I forget to say yay? Yay!)
I wanted to mention a couple things about this release while I still have the floor. #1: This 7" does come with one of those new fangled download cards - which, obviously, allows you to download the songs to your computer or phone or what have you - but, from what I've been told, will not be available elsewhere digitally. (Also meaning if you see these songs available elsewhere digitally, and it's not on a website owned by Jeff Clayton, please let us know so he can pay that person a little visit.)
#2: This is the first release to feature the "new" line-up. I put the new in quotes cause this line-up has actually been playing live together for a while at this point. In case you, like me, have yet to see said new line-up in person, thanks to the wonders of YouTube and the steady hand of Mr. Jeff "BBQ" Young, we can all watch them bring a little Destructo Rock to Repo Depot - aka the Young brothers' record store - right now. In fact, let's do.
Teehee! In case this is not obvious by this point, I love ANTiSEEN.
Anywhoo, more information on this fine release can be found here. I don't think there is a record release show planned per se but the band's next show is some huge rock 'n' roll festival in Holland so if you live there you should definitely go and check that out. (And if you do go, tell the Nomads I love them as well.)
'til next update,

(09.30.10 update)
Hey everybody! As usual I've been pretty lax in my news page updating but I did promise to make an effort when I actually had news to report, and I do, so let's get to it.
Did you know Hoodoo Gurus were touring in the States again? Oh it is so true! And I bring this up not because I think they are adorable - although I must admit I do - but because two of "our" bands, The Downbeat 5 and The Master Plan, are playing with them next week. (Disclaimer: Bands we work with are not really "our" bands, they are all free range musicains; I just coudn't think of any other way to easily word that sentence.) And, actually, the previously linked bands / musicians have shows coming up in October as well so feel free to mosey on over to the shows page to get the details.
And on that note I officially have eye strain so...
'til next update,

(06.15.10 update)
Hey everybody! Welcome to the newly established home of our newly established label!
(And, more specifically, the page where I will ramble on whenever I have news to share or need to update the site. For no other reason than Mr. Green Mist / Steel Cage has convinced me it's my job to do so.)
Anywhoo, at the risk of repeating something you may have read elsewhere on this site already - the real reason for today's site launch / news update is this is the day we officially kick off the next phase in our plot for world domination, aka the official release date for our first official GMR offering: Maximum Respect, the newest release by NYC supergroup The Master Plan. (As I always like to say at this point, yay!)
If you read the most recent Steel Cage news update, you know the record release show happened last month. (This type of thing tends to happen when there's a long lag time in between when we get CDs back from the pressing plant and when our distributor can schedule us into their next new release Tuesday.)
But, thanks to the wonders of the internet, you can sorta kinda recreate the experience of seeing the band live - or rather what it would be like to see the band members individually in their natural habitat via the webcams on their respective computers; with the extra added bonus of an appearance by / the vocal stylings of Dave Faulkner of les Hoodoo Gurus - by watching this video for "Feels Good To Feel".
Let's enjoy it together, shall we?
So fun!!
To get back to the record, more information on this fine release can be found here, or by following the links elsewhere on this page, and if you wanna find out about future opportunities to see the band live please visit the shows page.
'til next update,
xo
leslie
PS: Just to clarify things, the Steel Cage site will remain online & the catalog is still available (over here) but from now on, all newsly information concerning Steel Cage or Green Mist will go on this page just because the amount of websites I have to maintain is threatening my ability to maintain my sanity.
